I've had the good fortune of being a passenger on a last-minute road trip, which means lots of reading time. I flew through The Birth of Venus, and can't wait to hear what you girls think.
But of this I am certain: what a great prologue!

Agreed - prologue pulled me right in. It was a really quick read. Have either of you read anything else by her? I looked around and it kind of seemed like she had been on another course prior to this book.
Yes, it looks like she was writing mysteries. Interesting, because I thought there were some elements of mystery in Birth: for a while I thought the painter was going to end up being the murderer of the people that kept turning up dead.
It does look like she also wrote 2 more books about Renaissance Italy. Sacred Hearts (2009) that's set in a nunnery. It sounds interesting: I liked that part of Birth as well.
Better late than never: totally agree about the prologue. You just can't believe as you start the main part of the book that this young girl will end up the nun in the prologue. Can't wait to see what happens in her life that brings her to that point.
