Executive Decision for Our Next Pick

OK, I'm making an executive decision: let's read Birth of Venus (by Sarah Dunant I'm assuming), since Kathy has it with her and should have decent amounts of time to delve into it.  I'm choosing Birth of Venus (vs. American Music) because I wish I was with Kathy and reading about Florence should tame my mad jealousy.

Oh heck: I'm making two executive decisions: Sarah will choose the next book. I would like to read a classic, but that's not part of the executive decision, just a preference. The previously suggested A Tale of Two Cities works for me, but I'm open to other classics.

So, unless Kathy comments "No! No! You've got the wrong book!" our next selection will be Birth of Venus by Sarah Dunant.  Shall we have it read by New Year's?  I know that's a long time but there are some serious holiday distractions in there.  Looking forward to future discussion posts!!

This is great! I started it on the plane and it seems good so far. A strong female character, though quite different from our dear Olive, I suspect. Perhaps a bit more of an escape as well.
Vacation is great so far! Walked aroudn Prague with Terri tonight...delightful. I feel renewed already:)

Awesome! Shall we just rotate who selects the next book then - Natalie (Olive), Kathy (BoV), me (Tale of 2)? I am fine with picking a classic but I realize that there may be a greater chance that it will be a re-read; I'd like to pick one that you two haven't read before - or at least one you're good with reading again What are your thoughts on Tale of Two Cities, Kathy?

I am struggling with a piece of writing for work but once I finish, I am headed to the library to pick up the book. Liberation!
