Merry Christmas!

Happy New Year! I would like to read A Short History of Nearly Everything as our next selection. I started it at the beach last summer but ran out of time before I could finish it. What I read was full of great stories of truly quirky people throughout the history of scientific discovery.

I am thinking of reading it on my brand-new Kindle! Merry Christmas to me! If either of you has any suggestions for how to make the best use of this marvelous device, please fill me in.

I fly to DC in a few hours and then head up to Gettysburg for about 10 days. Are either of you in town?

Oooh! Yea! I'm excited about this pick! I've been thinking about reading it for quite a while, and I'm glad to have the push!

Unfortunately, I won't be in Gettysburg any time soon. I regret this as I really would have enjoyed a one-on-one Kindle tutoring session! Did you get a Kindle Fire? I have a 2nd gen. (?) that's just b&w, has a keyboard, but does have Wifi and 3G. I love love love it.

What's our "deadline?"

The first book I bough on my Kindle was The Night Circus. I bought it for my mom for Christmas because of your recommendation, started reading her copy while I was there, realized I wouldn't finish it before I left and bought it on the Kindle to read on the plane. I loved it! Amazing imagery. Thanks so much for the recommendation!

The second book was our pick for the book club. I could use a few weeks more to finish it. How about if you pick the deadline based on when you will likely be finished with it? I feel like there have been a couple of occasions when you might have said more if the deadline hadn't been several weeks after you'd finished the book. Alternatively, you could begin posting whenever you finish regardless of the date? What do you think?

Since this isn't really a book that I could "spoil" what happens if I post early, I think I'll just post as I go along. My Kindle tells me I'm 37% of the way through (page 250 of 478). So, it'll probably take me another couple of weeks to finish. How does January 31st sound? Too soon?
