Well, the suggestion of finishing by August 22 has come and gone. Anyone read it? I've tried, but I'm not having much luck. I've been on vacation and have had plenty of reading time, but it just wasn't compelling enough for me to stick with it. I can't really put my finger on what it is that I don't particularly like. I intend to keep trying, though. Unless, of course, you both tell me otherwise.

I read it before my vacation. It wasn't really my cup of tea either. I'd be happy to chat about it though. How far along are you?
The narrator had much snappier comebacks and quicker repartee than I expected given her inner dialogue. She was a cooler/hipper kid than most of the protagonists I've known. I had mixed feelings about that. I was often relieved that she handled awkward social situations as well as she did. Which I guess means that I was rooting for her. But I couldn't really relate to some of the things that caused her embarrassment and I found myself wishing she was kinder and more open.
Just talked to Natalie and got back in the loop. Sorry I totally missed that this was the book! If you two think it's worth reading, I will dive in, but it sounds like you were less than thrilled. I'll take your word for it and we can move on to the next pick, or I'll give it a go. Let me know...Love,
