Stalled!

But I still think this is a worthy endeavor, so let's move on.  Who's pick is it?  This month features a nice holiday weekend, so hopefully we can sneak away from various picnics and family get-togethers and read!

I agree fully that it was a worthy endeavor, though I must confess I did not make it through the whole novel. I read the large print version for a while, got lost in the words, and resorted to listening to the free podcast version from iTunes. This was excellent because it really helped me get the cadence of the language of the time period. Then when I went back to reading the book, it was easier to follow. I listened to it a lot on the way back and forth to the theater. I enjoyed reading during Sweeney Todd esp. because one of the locations was on Fleet Street:) I kept imagining the character of Lucie as our "Johanna" - long blonde hair, somewhat in distress, lots of similarities. And of course we had a "Lucy" character and our fair share of London street urchins. But I digress...
I'm glad that I took it on, and perhaps I'll return to it some day. My friend Eileen told me that it is one of the more difficult reads because Dickens was paid by the word. Which would def. explain the wordiness!
Thank you for issuing the challenge. I look forward to the next one:) Love to you both!
